Ingredients

4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

4 cups fresh peaches, pitted and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds, optional)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and peaches. Add granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss gently to coat the fruit. Pour the fruit mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture is crumbly. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.

Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the fruit layer in the baking dish, ensuring it covers the fruit entirely.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. This dish is wonderful served warm, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
