Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes

8 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup maple syrup (plus extra for serving)

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (or other berries of your choice)

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: In a large mixing bowl, place the bread cubes and set aside.

Mix the Egg Mixture: In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined and smooth.

Combine: Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, gently folding until all pieces are well coated. If desired, fold in the sliced strawberries and nuts.

Assemble: Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat Oven: The following morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool & Serve: Let the casserole cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if using, and serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
