Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a donut pan with cooking spray or butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground nutmeg until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently fold until just combined; be careful not to overmix. The batter should be slightly thick.

Fill Donut Pan: Transfer the batter into a piping bag (or a ziplock bag with one corner snipped) and fill each donut cavity about 3/4 full.

Bake Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when touched. Allow them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy. Adjust the consistency as needed by adding more milk or powdered sugar.

Glaze Donuts: Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the top of each donut into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off. Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set.

Serve and Enjoy: Enjoy these delightful melt-in-your-mouth glazed donuts fresh, or store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days!
