Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and sliced

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup sour cream

½ cup milk

4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until just combined.

Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the potato slices evenly across the bottom. Next, evenly distribute the meatloaf mixture over the potatoes.

Add the Remaining Potatoes: Layer the remaining potato slices on top of the meatloaf mixture.

Make the Creamy Topping: In a separate bowl, whisk together the sour cream and milk until smooth. Pour this mixture over the layered casserole, ensuring even coverage.

Top with Cheese and Bacon: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the casserole.

Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
