Ingredients

3 large onions, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Tortilla chips or sliced baguette, for serving

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 25-30 minutes or until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. If the onions start to stick, add a splash of water.

Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Use a hand mixer or spatula to blend it together until smooth and creamy.

Combine Onions and Cheese Mixture: Once the onions have finished caramelizing, let them cool slightly before folding them into the cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the onion and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish, smoothing the top.

Bake: Bake the dip in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the dip is bubbling and the top is slightly golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle chopped chives on top for garnish. Serve warm with tortilla chips or sliced baguette.
