Crispy Chilli Beef (with Sweet Chilli) - Chinese Shredded Beef

Ingredients
  

500g beef flank or sirloin, thinly sliced

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 onion, sliced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

2 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste

Chopped spring onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
 

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

    Coat the Beef: After marinating, dust the beef slices with cornstarch, ensuring each piece is fully coated. Shake off any excess cornstarch.

      Fry the Beef: In a large frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the beef in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.

        Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.

          Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet chilli sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes.

            Combine and Toss: Add the crispy beef back into the pan with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over the mixture and quickly toss everything to combine and heat through.

              Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with steamed jasmine rice or noodles.
