Creamy Chicken Lasagna with White Sauce

12 lasagna noodles

2 cups cooked, shredded chicken

2 cups ricotta cheese

2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

3 cups baby spinach

4 cups white sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Olive oil, for drizzling

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Prepare the White Sauce: If you're making homemade white sauce, melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 4 tablespoons of flour and cook for about a minute. Gradually whisk in 4 cups of milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. If using store-bought, simply measure out 4 cups.

        Mix the Chicken Filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ricotta cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

          Assemble the Lasagna:

            - Spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom of a large baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches).

              - Lay 4 lasagna noodles on top.

                - Spread half of the chicken filling over the noodles, followed by a layer of spinach and 1 cup of white sauce.

                  - Sprinkle with 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.

                    - Repeat the layers (noodles, chicken filling, spinach, white sauce, mozzarella).

                      - Add the final layer with the remaining noodles, the rest of the white sauce, and top with Parmesan cheese and the remaining mozzarella.

                        Bake the Lasagna: Drizzle a little olive oil on top of the lasagna to help with browning. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

                          Let it Cool: Once baked, allow the lasagna to cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. This will help the layers set.

                            Serve: Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm and enjoy this creamy, comforting dish!
