Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1 cup shredded cabbage

1/2 cup shredded carrots

2 green onions, sliced

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

12 wonton wrappers

Vegetable oil for frying

Salt and pepper to taste

Lime wedges, for serving

Optional: sweet chili sauce for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground chicken. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Flavor the Chicken: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, minced ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes for the flavors to blend. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Wonton Wrappers: In a separate pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat for frying. Take each wonton wrapper and lightly brush the edges with water.

Form the Tacos: Place 1-2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture in the center of each wonton. Fold the wrapper in half to create a taco shape, pressing to seal the edges.

Fry the Wontons: Carefully place the folded wontons into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Prepare the Slaw: In a bowl, mix the shredded cabbage, carrots, green onions, and cilantro. Toss with a splash of lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste.

Assemble the Tacos: Fill each crispy wonton taco with the chicken filling and top with the slaw mixture. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce if desired.

Serve: Arrange the tacos on a platter with lime wedges on the side. Enjoy your delicious copycat Applebee's Chicken Wonton Tacos!
