Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 large onion, sliced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 bell pepper (any color), sliced

2 green onions, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 15 minutes to enhance the flavor and tenderness of the meat.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, so the beef gets a nice brown crust. Flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.

Add the minced garlic and ginger into the skillet, stirring them together for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Return the beef to the skillet. Toss everything together to combine, cooking for another 2 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

Finally, sprinkle the chopped green onions over the stir-fry, and give it a quick toss.

Serve hot over a bed of cooked rice or noodles, and enjoy your flavorful Chinese Beef and Onion Stir-Fry!
