Ingredients
  

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup pecans, chopped

½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

      Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract, mixing well until fully combined.

        In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

          Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be cautious not to overmix.

            Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips (if using).

              Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.

                Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers appear set.

                  Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
