Ingredients

1 package of breakfast sausage links (about 12 links)

1 package of crescent roll dough (8 ounces)

4 ounces of cheddar cheese, cut into small strips

1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard (optional)

1 tablespoon of fresh chives, chopped (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Cooking spray or parchment paper (for baking)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Prepare Sausages: Cook the breakfast sausage links in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.

Prepare Dough: Open the crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a flat surface. Press the seams together to create a solid sheet. Cut the dough into rectangles about 4 inches by 2 inches each.

Add Cheese and Sausage: Place a strip of cheddar cheese and a cooked sausage link at one end of each rectangle of dough. If using, spread a bit of Dijon mustard on the dough before adding the sausage and cheese for an extra kick.

Roll Up: Roll the dough tightly around the sausage and cheese, making sure it’s sealed well. Place the pigs in a blanket seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the wrapped sausages with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden color when baked. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and black pepper on top for flavor.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle chopped chives over the top for garnish. Serve warm with additional Dijon mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
