1/4 cup sour cream

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Apple Filling:

2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Bread:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

For the Crisp Topping:

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup flour

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan and set it aside.

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Make the Cheesecake Layer: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and sour cream, mixing until fully combined. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until creamy. Set aside.

Mix the Bread Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined (do not overmix).

Layer the Ingredients: Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread half of the apple filling over the batter, followed by half of the cheesecake mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, apples, and cheesecake.

Prepare the Crisp Topping: In a small bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles crumbly sand. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the loaf.

Bake: Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
